Where's Spot ? Under the bed ?

都島区eo英会話です。「英語の前置詞」と聞くと中学時代に習ったものを思い出しますね。
－の中に(in) －の上に(on) －の下に(under) などが最初に習う前置詞です。子どもは、in, on, under とネイティブ講師の英語を真似してすぐに覚えます。しかし、大事なのは語順です。” in the box " 　" on the desk " が正しいのですが、時々　” box in" とか　" desk on " などと言う生徒がいます。しかし、ネイティブの口真似をして何回も言う練習をすると、慣れて自然に上手に言えるようになります。「英語の語順は日本語とまったく違う」ということを子どもたちは、耳と口と目を使い理解できるのです。文法など必要ありません。小３のAさんは、最初　” box in " と言ってましたが、「あ、さかさまやん！」と気がついてからは、正しく言えるようになりました。先日、 Where's Spot ? " という英語の絵本を声に出して上手に読みました。子どもの頃にこんなふうに学んだ言葉は決して忘れません。
English prepositions are sometimes hard for Japanese to understand. Students can remember the words like "in" ,"on", or "under" quickly however, the ordering of the words in a phrase is often confusing for Japanese. You should say " in the box" or "on the desk", but most children are more likely to say "box in" or "desk on" . After practicing with a native teacher (repeating the English after the native teacher), they can say prepostions properly, naturally, and very well. The chldren don't need grammar practice for this. They understand and remember with thier mouths , ears and eyes.
The other day, a student, who is 10 years old said, "box in ?? in the box ?". She realized very quickly, "Oh, it's reverse of Japanese!" Then she understood and read the book "Where's Spot" aloud very well in the class. The children who learn English through experience like this, never forget.
